(December 2006) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) Lysa Hora or Bald Mountain (Ukrainian: Лиса гора, Lysa hora, pl. Lysi hory; Russian: Лысая гора, Lysaya gora, Polish: Łysa Góra) is a concept of East Slavic, and particularly Ukrainian, folk mythology related to witchcraft. According to legends, ravens, black eagles, witches and other paranormal creatures periodically gather on the "bald mountains" for their "Sabbath". Mentions of Lysi Hory can be found in various historical and literary sources, such as in the writings of Nikolai Gogol and Mikhail Bulgakov (who uses it in The Master and Margarita as the mountain where the Iyeshua (Jesus of Nazareth) was crucified). The exact origins and factual evidences of the concept are unclear. Researchers list dozens of supposed "bald mountains" sites throughout Ukraine and Poland. The most famous among them are the Lysa Hora and Zamkova Hora hills in Kiev, Ukraine, and Łysa Góra in Poland.[citation needed] See also[edit] Lysa Hora History of Ukraine History of Russia Night on Bald Mountain (music composition by Modest Mussorgsky and Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov inspired in the legend) Brocken Walpurgis v t e Slavic mythology Major deities Dažbog Jarilo Kresnik Mat Zemlya Perun Svarog Svetovid Triglav Veles Zaria Živa Zorya Other deities Belobog Berehynia Berstuk Chernobog Devana Dodola Dzydzilelya Flins Hors Karewit Kostroma Lada Marzanna Mokosh Oźwiena Porenut Porewit Porvata Radegast Rod Rugiewit Stribog Zirnitra Legendary heroes Alyosha Popovich Dobrynya Nikitich Đerzelez Alija Ilya Muromets Ivan Kosančić Ivan Tsarevich Kyi, Shchek and Khoryv Lech, Czech, and Rus Libuše Mikula Selyaninovich Mila Gojsalić Milan Toplica Miloš Obilić Nikita the Tanner Popiel Prince Marko Sadko Solovey-Razboynik Svyatogor Vasilisa the Beautiful Vasilisa the Wise Volga Svyatoslavich Creatures and plants Alkonost Cikavac Fern flower-Chervona Ruta Firebird Gamayun Indrik Ispolin Kolobok Raróg Raskovnik Simargl Sirin Ved Zmey Spirits and demons Ala Baba Yaga Bagiennik Bannik Baš Čelik Bauk Bies Black Arab Blud Boginki Bukavac Chort Damned Jerina Dola Domovoi Drekavac Dvorovoi Dukljan German Karzełek Kikimora Koschei Krsnik Lady Midday Leshy Likho Likhoradka Mav 춘자넷
